Microchip

Each year thousands of pets go missing and many do not make it back home.Your pet needs a reliable form of identification. Even if your pet wears a collar and ID tag, collars can break and ID tags can become damaged and unreadable. We recommend your pet be microchipped, as it may greatly increase the chance of you being reunited with them. Animal shelters, animal control officers and veterinarians routinely look for microchips to return lost pets quickly to their owners.

What is a microchip? A microchip is a device implanted beneath an animal’s skin which contains a unique series of characters used to identify an animal if it’s lost. A microchip is about the size of a grain of rice and is administered similarly to a vaccine, using a syringe.

We use and recommend Save This Life Microchip and Pet Recovery System. Each Save This Life microchip number is searchable in popular search engines like Google. When someone finds a pet and searches the microchip number, they are able to privately contact the pet owner with a text message and an email. The pet owner receives a GPS map powered by Google Maps of where the person who found their pet is actually located.

Save This Life offers a lifetime registration. You pay a one-time fee and we will register your pets microchip. You can also register any type of microchip with Save This Life for a small fee. It is important that if you move or change your phone number you update this information with your microchip providers.
